Getting Exercise

Taking care of your temple

In this blog, I want to talk about how important it is to get daily or regular exercise. Exercise is good for the body because it helps with our cardiovascular system and other systems of the body. Also, if we do not get regular exercise, then we will develop a sedentary lifestyle where we are getting little to no movement in our bodies and lives.

When we do not exercise, it can lead to certain diseases and cancers. A lack of exercise can lead to diabetes and heart disease. It is important to try to get at least 30 minutes to an hour of exercise daily. If you cannot get exercise daily, then try to get exercise 2 to 3 days a week.

It may be hard for some people to get exercise because they work behind a desk all day. It may be hard for a person to get exercise because of the weather outside or because they do not have the money for a gym membership.

But we need to  try to find time to exercise and move our body even if it is just for 10 to 20 minutes. Every little bit of exercise helps. I would not recommend a person to over-exercise because that can lead to health problems, soreness in the body, as well as losing excessive weight.

If we want to be healthy, we should try to get the recommended amount of exercise daily and to try to move our bodies. Exercising can help relieve stress as well as depression and mental health problems.

Jesus Christ is our ultimate healer and restorer. So, not only can exercise help us to heal and recover, but also Jesus Christ can heal and restore us when we put in the work, which is to exercise and eat a healthy diet.

1 Timothy 4:8 says, "For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come."

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

Our bodies do not belong to us, but to God. So, we are to steward them well for the glory of God. To steward our body is to get exercise regularly, even if it is just a little. God sees the work that we are putting in and for His kingdom. Our work will be rewarded in the end when we stand before Him.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 says, "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures."

2 Peter 3:9 says, The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

Ephesians 2:8-10 says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
