Becoming a new creation
There may be sins from your past that you have already confessed and repented of, but you still feel guilty for those sins. You may feel shameful of your past mistakes and failures. There is a difference between condemnation and conviction.
Conviction is good and is of the Holy Spirit. That is how you know you are a true born again believer, because you will get convicted for your sins. Conviction will lead you to confession and repentance of your sins. Condemnation on the other hand is of the devil.
So, the devil will try to get a Christian to feel condemned, guilty, and shameful for their past sins, even after confession and repentance of those past sins. The Bible says in Romans 8:1, There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." So, if you are in Christ Jesus and are walking in the Spirit, there is no condemnation for you. Those who are walking according to the flesh and are not in Christ are condemned.
But if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, have repented of your sins, and have put your faith and trust in Him, then you are in Christ and made into a new person and creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
That is when your new life in Christ begins. That is when the old you starts to die and the new you is resurrected. So, you are no longer condemned to your past or past sins and mistakes because you are walking in the Spirit now. You have put off the old former life and sins from your past. God has wiped the slate clean when you confess your sins, repent, and ask Him for forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 says, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
